It has been so fun watching Yves’ journey from being a kpop idol to becoming her own artist. People doubted her ability to be a solo artist but she’s proven herself time and time again. A common criticism when she first began her soloist career was that she wasn’t producing her own music. It obviously took time for her to be confident enough to show the world her own work & when she did everyone wanted more. She & her company listened and we got ‘NAIL’. She participated in writing the lyrics for all of the songs and even got her own original song “birth” included in the tracklist. NAIL is by far her most experimental album & shows how far she’s ventured off the typical kpop soloist path. She’s expressed her want to be taken more seriously as an artist & be viewed as more than just a kpop act. Hopefully with this album and her upcoming album she can finally prove herself & capture the attention of many. Check out NAIL & look out for her next album!
Now.. I know this is a place where we mostly share our favorites however I think this is also a good place to talk about everything wrong with Tygas new “album”. Obviously, ai has no place in music & will (hopefully) never replace actual artists. Tyga trying to pass whatever this mess is off as his own work just shows how lazy of an artist he is. There was zero effort put in to even make it seem like any of the work he actually made. Which, to be fair he’s put out some hits. I just find it astonishing that an entire team of people worked on this, listened to it, and gave it an okay.. I’ve heard some ai songs and while they will always have that ai cadence to them & feel less human, at least some of them made sense. Tyga really just turned the first sentence that popped up in his head into an ai prompt & said okay that’s enough work. I wish we could just ignore this album all together & not give him any attention for it but I truly think the product of this album speaks volumes about AI use in the arts. Cutting corners with AI will never turn out well. Tyga may not take this as a lesson but hopefully other artists won’t try any shit like this.
U is my top played album this year. In my opinion every track stands out & deserves a music video. So glad she finally released a music video for The Peace! It’s simple but perfectly executed the theme of the song. Her budget is slowly increasing so I can’t wait to see what her next album will bring both sonically and visually 👀
Kelela is living proof that it’s never too late to start a new venture or do something you’ve always wanted to do. I find her so inspiring and this song has gotten me through some tough nights where I didn’t believe in myself or thought that i’d have no chance in life to do something I loved. Amazing song, wish it was longer like some of her other songs though.
perfect song to introduce you to her album “strange flowers” i personally prefer the single version simply because the cover is so beautiful. please give this album a listen! so worth it & perfect especially for a nice spring/summer drive or relaxing day out in the sun
aya is such an amazing artist but i wish she’d have released more albums. i always end up finding artists who put out one maybe two albums and a few singles & then dipped. i love this album and the singles she’s put out i just wish she had kept making music consistently. her discography being so short is the only thing that upsets me about this album.. i need more..
